AI-Powered Car Insurance Comparison: How Perplexity Automates KFZ Quote Analysis – Test from November 6, 2025

AI-Powered Automation for Car Insurance Comparisons Already Works!

Modern AI assistants can automatically fill out complex online forms and conduct insurance comparisons. But what do you need for this and what risks should you be aware of?

Before we go through this, please note that we are not liable for incorrect entries, but rather want to show what is already possible with AI.

✅ Tested and Works!

We have successfully tested this automation with:

The AI assistant Comet by Perplexity independently navigated through multi-page forms, operated sliders, and filled out complex dropdowns.

It worked best with our NAFI calculator. With our other calculators, the AI still needed hints and help in some fields, but ultimately managed it as well.

⚠️ Important Privacy Warning

Attention: When you entrust your personal data to an AI, it will be transferred to and processed on the AI provider’s servers. This affects:

  • Personal data (name, date of birth, address)
  • Vehicle data (license plate, HSN/TSN)
  • Insurance data (no-claims classes, previous insurers)
  • Financial information (purchase prices, deductibles)

Recommendation: Only use this technology with fictitious test data or if you fully trust the AI provider and have read their privacy policies.

🤖 Which AI Systems Are Suitable?

For automatic form filling, you need an AI with browser automation capabilities. Not all AI assistants can do this:

✅ Suitable AI Systems (tested):

  • Comet by Perplexity(Successfully tested by us!)
    • Complete browser automation
    • Can fill forms, operate sliders, navigate through multi-page processes
    • Recognizes and fixes validation errors independently
    • Web-based, no installation required

✅ Other Suitable Systems (not tested by us):

  • Anthropic Claude (with Computer Use) – Experimental browser control
  • Specialized RPA Tools (Robotic Process Automation) – For professional applications

❌ NOT suitable:

  • ChatGPT (Standard Version) – No browser automation
  • Google Gemini (Standard) – No direct form processing
  • Pure chatbots without browser access

🌐 Browser Requirements

The AI requires access to an automatable browser:

  • Chrome/Chromium-based – Most commonly supported (used by Comet/Perplexity)
  • Firefox – Available with some tools
  • Headless Browser – For background automation

Important: The browser typically runs on the AI provider’s servers, not on your local computer. Perplexity/Comet uses a cloud-based browser.

🔧 How Does Automation Work with Comet?

In our test, Comet by Perplexity automatically performed the following steps:

  1. Form Access – Navigation to the comparison calculator website
  2. Field Identification – Automatic recognition of input fields, dropdowns, sliders
  3. Prompting – The clearer you formulate your requirements and basic data, the more accurate your result will be
  4. Data Entry – Systematic filling based on the provided and transmitted data
  5. Error Handling – Independent adjustment for validation errors (e.g., missing required fields)
  6. Navigation – Clicking through multi-page forms (up to 8 pages in the NAFI calculator)
  7. Slider Operation – Precise setting of deductibles (€500 for comprehensive and partial coverage)
  8. Result Extraction – Reading and summarizing comparison results (31 offers in the NAFI test)

💡 Practical Example from Our Test:

Test Vehicle: BMW 760i V12 (HSN: 0005, TSN: AGU)

Configuration:

  • Comprehensive coverage with €500 deductible
